As a supplier to Severn Valley Railway (SVR), Mechan is joining the fight to save Falling Sands viaduct and is urging you to do so too! The 141-year old bridge is a crucial part of the heritage route, but it urgently needs extensive repairs.
The good people of SVR need to raise £275,000 before the end of 2018, to unlock £1 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund so the project can begin. To date, they have reached £198,000 and are now asking those working in the rail industry to pledge £100 to their ‘helping hands for Falling Sands’ appeal.
Each company offering support will be added to SVR’s very first donation wall, which will be displayed at the Engine House Visitor Centre. You will also receive a certificate acknowledging your contribution and promotion via social media channels.
Mechan director, Zahir Altaf, said: “It is vital we unite to protect our heritage railway assets. We have pledged our support to SVR and now want to encourage customers and the suppliers who assisted us with the production of jacks for its Kidderminster facility to follow suit.”
