Bogie Drop Systems

Mechan's bogie drop systems allow the safe removal and replacement of complete bogies, wheelsets and undercar equipment from coupled rail vehicles.

When not in use, the road is safe for normal depot traffic, as the rail beams are latched into place and fully interlocked.

A pit continuation gives full clearance under the bogie and side platforms offer all-round access to the item being changed. Adapters can be fitted to enable undercar modules to be removed/replaced.

Mechan provides bogie drops with either a hydraulic scissor type lifting mechanism or the recently developed intelligent screw jack lifting system, which offers a reduced pit depth and greatly minimises installation costs.

Wheel Drop Systems

Wheelset drop systems allow the safe removal and replacement of wheelsets only from coupled rail vehicles.

Like the bogie drops, the road is safe for other traffic when the system is not in use. Mechan's wheelset drops are available as simple tabletop systems or with pit continuation for full access under the bogie.

Adjustable bogie jacks are included to provide support during removal of the wheelset and appropriate adapters can be used for module removal/replacement.
