Mechan Traverser Helps Customer Win Award

Mechans recent installation of a 170 tonne capacity Locomotive Traverser at the Port of Felixstowe has helped Hutchinson Ports win an award at the Rail Freight Group Annual Awards 2013.

Hutchinson Ports scooped the Technical Development Award for the use of the Train Transporter Unit, or Traverser, an integral and unique element on the new £38 million North Rail Terminal at the port.

Faced with this constraint the Port was forced to look for an innovative alternative to the usual fan arrangement of run round roads if the new facility was to be capable of handling the train lengths.

The Traverser from Mechan was the answer. Mechan would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Hutchinson Ports on winning this award.
