On track for HS2

We will be directly and indirectly affected by HS2, most significantly by the potential opportunity to supply maintenance equipment to the proposed depot at Washwood Heath.

Good transport links are essential to our business. Our clients are primarily headquartered in London and we travel to other major economic centres at least two or three times a month. Access to airports is also required for overseas meetings and trade exhibitions.

By their very nature, products that lift trains are big and we need effective infrastructure to deliver them to depots across the UK and react quickly to maintenance requests.

We are already committed to Sheffield and the future prosperity of the area, but we recognise the arrival of HS2 will improve connectivity and hopefully encourage more businesses to explore the benefits of a base in South Yorkshire.

As long as this increased movement of people boosts profitability within the railways, we will then see more investment in the network and depots that serve it, further improving the customer experience and enhancing the prospects of all of us in the supply chain.

Mechan is part of France’s CIM Group, international suppliers of integrated rail solutions. It designs, manufactures and installs equipment for depots and workshops.

Our office and manufacturing facility is located in the Darnall area of Sheffield.

Currently we have 24 direct employees, although we have agents representing our interests across the globe.
